Reduce Midsection Fat - Do Rapid Weight Loss Diets Really Work?
November 30, 2009 | Leave a Comment
At some point in everyone’s life we look in the mirror and wonder if we need to lose weight. We want to reduce the midsection fat that has appeared every year as we get older. However most people don’t have patience to follow a diet though and as a result resort to rapid weight loss diets. The question is asked though if rapid weight loss diets really work?
The best way to think of rapid weight loss diets is they are the same to starving yourself and as quick as you lose the weight, it will be replaced just as quickly when you start eating properly again. There are also some serious side effects that people must be aware of if they insist on carrying out rapid weight loss diets.
The first one is a constant feeling of hunger which leads to irritably and you won’t be able to focus on the normal day-to-day tasks such as work or cleaning the house. Think of it as an addiction withdrawal. The body needs food and if you starve it by following rapid weight loss diets then the body will suffer maybe even in the form of depression.
The second most noticeable side effect is a loss of energy. If you don’t put petrol into a car it won’t work and the same applies to the body and food. The loss of energy will give you a reduced sex drive, fatigue and possibly even result in you fainting. Bloodshot eyes and a dull skin will make everyone think you suffer from Anorexia.
So to reduce your midsection fat, rapid weight loss diets do not work because the success is short-lived and also defeated by all the side effects that go with it. The key to losing weight is to follow a diet that provides all the nutrients that your body needs whilst still fitting into your average day. A low carbohydrate diet for example does not do this and once again energy levels are drained because of the lack of nutrients.
The Mike Geary diet plan allows you to put together a diet which suits you and still provides you with all the nutrients you need. The basis of this diet is to know which diet foods that are said to help us lose weight actually help the body to store fat. It involves staying away from foods that have Estrogen compounds and surprisingly including a certain type of saturated fat in our diet. This saturated fat helps the body to burn its overall body fat to under 10% and at the same time allows you to keep up weight loss that will stay off and not re-appear two weeks later.
Let’s recap what you’ve learned in this article:
*This diet aims to reduce midsection fat whilst toning the body all over and it is the complete opposite to rapid weight loss diets.
*It does not have serious side effects and provides results that make your all over body firm, lean and looking sexy for years to come.
No time to lose weight? 4 simple nutrition tips to get you going
January 29, 2009 | 2 Comments
Today is the 4th day of Chinese New Year, and I’m very glad that I’ve exercised for the second time this week! Yeah, sweat to burn off the extra calories consumed over the past few days. Even if I am not losing weight, at least I am keeping those extra pounds off this holiday!
It’s kinda weird that how we keep hearing people saying they want to lose weight, yet everyone seems to complain they can’t find the time to lose weight. With all of the responsibilities and events packed into our busy days, it really makes us wonder how are we able to keep ourselves healthy and maintain an optimal weight, right? In addition, when we think of weight loss, we think of diet and exercise, both of which already sound time consuming.
If you ask Isabel, the author of the Diet Solution Program, she’ll give you all the reasons why exercise is so important. However, she believed that following a healthy eating regimen is the priority number 1, because based from her experience with client that she helped, Isabel noticed that those who followed their nutrition plan without exercise would always lose weight. However, if they didn’t follow their nutrition plan but are consistent with their workouts, there is no weight loss.
To kick start your way to your health and weight loss goals, below are some simple tips to adjust your nutrition plan from Isabel that will help to take off an initial 5-10 pounds.
1. Only drink water as your beverage (with the occasional unsweetened tea or black coffee).
Eliminating all sugar drinks, “diet” drinks and sodas will automatically cause a dramatic weight loss. Studies have shown, when all else is kept constant, people lose up to 10lbs just by giving up diet coke. But it has no calories you say? Equal (Aspartame) and all other artificial sweeteners are toxins to your body and cause weight gain, even more so than sugar!
Squeeze fresh lemon in your water or make flavored herbal teas and cool them to make ice tea to make water drinking much easier. Always consume half of your body weight in ounces of water per day to experience adequate hydration and weight loss (ex. If you weigh 150 lbs, you must drink 75 ounces of water each day).
2. Eliminate the 4 white devilsWhite Flour, Refined Salt, White Sugar, and Dairy. If you just stay away from these 4 things, you will automatically see a drastic drop in weight and will instantly feel more energetic throughout the day. Most people are well aware of the harmful effects of flour, refined salt and sugar but dairy? Doesn’t it do a body good? Definitely not! Dairy is one of the number 1 reasons people have such a hard time losing weight. It causes inflammation in the body, digestive problems, clogged arteries, and weight gain. Get your calcium from leafy greens and avoid dairy at all costs. When moms bring in their children to see me with weight and health problems one of the first things I do is take them off dairy. The results are miraculous! Chronically sick kids are now automatically better. And those who have had such a hard time losing weight experience automatic weight loss without dairy.
3. Know exactly where to find the healthy food!It is honestly just as easy to run in to the local supermarket and get a bag of carrots and some almonds as it is to run into a Quickie-Mart and buy some harmful processed food. You can go absolutely anywhere now and find healthy meal options but you must know what you are looking for. Stay away from most packaged foods as the label indicates more of a science experiment than anything that would be close to food. No one needs all of those toxins in their body. Labels should have 2–3 items, at most. And the best foods don’t have labels.
Don’t let time be your excuse. If you stop to eat 2-3 times per day and snack in between it is just as easy to find something healthy as it is to find something harmful. Don’t let your body come to a shrieking halt before you decide to do anything about your weight and your health. You know what will be a huge impediment on your time? If you or a family member becomes ill due to poor nutrition and lifestyle habits. So tackle the problem now before it really does begin to affect your time and your life! You can replace cars, homes and all material items, but you only get one body! Take good care of it.- Isabel De Los Rios

Low-carb dieting for weight loss?
December 23, 2008 | 3 Comments
I have briefly mentioned about the relationship between carbohydrates and quick weight loss previously. Let me share some information about low-carbohydrate diet, or low-carb diet, in this post.
Losing weight is a goal for so many people - be it for health and medical reasons, or merely vanity at play
- that everybody is searching for quick and easy ways to lose weight. Low-carb dieting has become a weight loss trend in the recent years since the creation of the Atkins Diet by Dr Robert Atkins
Besides low-carb diets, there are also many different diets out there. The truth is - most of them will achieve weight loss if they are followed correctly. It is also important to find a diet that you can easily follow.
Low-carb diets seem to suit many people because the principles are quite easy to follow. As the name suggests, the diet consists of avoiding or limiting foods that are high in carbohydrates. These include bread, pasta, potatoes, rice and other grains. Sugar is also a carbohydrate. Once you understand what these foods are, it is a simply choosing dishes to avoid them.
However, low-carbohydrate dieting also receives a lot of criticism. Since dieters will get most of their daily calories from meat, dairy and other protein-rich and high fat products with this type of diet, it can lead to high cholesterol and other problems related to a high intake of saturated fats. It is therefore wise to ask for medical advice before starting this type of diet.
One of the problems that many people experience with low-carb dieting is the elimination of bread and pasta. You can forget about toast, spaghetti or pizza! You should know by now that many of the foods that are quickest to prepare are based around carbohydrates - burgers in their buns, fries, sandwiches, pasta and sauce.
Beer and other alcoholic drinks are high in carbohydrates, too. That is why alcohol is generally restricted on any diet - especially in low-carb diets - due to its high calorie content and very low nutritional value.
Nevertheless, there are many foods that can be enjoyed on a low-carb diet. If you are fond of meat you will relish the opportunity to consume beef, chicken and other animal products.
So, a lot of times people cannot handle this kind of diet restrictions in the longer term, despite seeing good weight loss results. Eventually, they start to deviate from the diet.
While low-carb dieting works for many people, it really is a matter of finding a diet plan that suits you in order to achieve your weight loss goal without hurting your health.
Note: You may want to find out whether your are a carbohydrate-, protein- or mixed-type person before even considering using a low-carb diet plan. Take the metabolic typing test in The Diet Solution Program. You can also read my review of the Diet Solution Program.
